We had so much fun learning about the apple life cycle. At the beginning of the week, Mrs. Wanke asked what we knew about apples? We knew so many facts. She explained that what we know about a topic is called our schema. She explained that we can grow our schema by reading and identifying new information. So, we read the story How Apples Grow.
After reading the story, we wrote down all the new facts that we learned. We were thrilled to see that we were expanding our knowledge and learning new things.
Later in the week, we learned the difference between opinions and facts. We worked to identify different apple statements as facts or opinions.
We searched the hallway for apples with letters on them. When we found the capital letter, we had to find and trace the lowercase letter.
On Friday, we read the story, How to Make an Apple Pie and see the World. This was a fun story about a girl who traveled all over the world collecting ingredients to make an apple pie.
After reading the story Mrs. Wanke had each of us make our own apple turnover! Check out our pictures of us making our turnovers.
