Get to know Mrs. Wanke

This is me...Mrs. Wanke playing teacher when I was in about first or second grade!

This is me now.  Although I look different, I still love to be the teacher!  I think I enjoy it more as each year passes!

Let me tell you a little about myself!

My husband Rob and I moved to Pecatonica 18 years ago.  Ten years ago we welcomed our daughter Ashley to our family. We are super excited to be welcoming another little one to our family in February.

I love to read, run, and shop. I ran my first half marathon in August of 2015 and I hope to do it again in the future!   My husband and I love to watch Chicago Bears football, grill/cook together, and ride our 4-wheeler. (Ashley loves to ride it too.)

I am a Rockford College graduate. I received my bachelor's degree in 2003.  In 2009 I received my masters degree in reading.  I feel that reading is such a huge part of first and second grade.  It is my goal as a teacher to always stay current on best practices so that I can do my best to educate all my students.

I absolutely love teaching...always have and I always will.  I have so much fun spending time with the kids.  They always make me laugh and smile.  School was not always easy for me when I was a kid. However, it was my amazing teachers than supported me and inspired me to become a teacher.  I hope that I can be the same kind of teacher for all my students.

My Goals for OUR Class
1.  Help your child become an independent reader that uses many different word decoding and comprehension strategies.
2.  Teach your child respect for others and himself/herself.
3.  Create a community of learners.
4.  Use a hands on approach to teach a multitude of math concepts
5.  Guide students to become a well developed writer that uses all the traits of writing.
6.  Inspire your child to seek knowledge on his/her own.
7. Help your child see the value of education and become a life long learner.
8.
 HAVE FUN!
