TickleMe Plants!

 

Thanks to a former student I received a packet of TickleMe Plant seeds.  We planted the seeds today and hopefully in three weeks we should have our very own TickleMe Plant.

Word Families

 In Fundations last week we were introduced to the glued sound all.  This week we were introduced to the glued sounds am and an.

 

 

Mrs. Wanke put us in three groups today.  One group had the -an house, the second group had the -all house, and the last group had the -am house.  In our groups we took turns thinking of words that were spelled with our groups particular glued sounds.  Then when we all agreed upon the word, we wrote it into the house. (For example, only words spelled with -an could go in the -an house.)

Wonderful Whale T-Shirts

YAHOO! The artwork for our class t-shirts are in! The student's helped with the t-shirt artwork this year. Each student wrote his or her name so it looked like it was coming out of Wally's spout! 

Design will be printed on a teal/blue shirt. Background color on artwork is a little darker than what the actual t-shirt color will be.

 

It is a Wonderful Whale tradition to wear our shirts on Fridays and for special school events so that our class can be easily identified.  It is really neat to see all the children in their WONDERFUL WHALE shirts.  Plus they will always have souvenir to remeber their first and second grade experience!

 

The t-shirts are going to $10.00 each and we will wear them for the next two years.  (Please pick a shirt size that your child will be able to fit into for two years.)

T-shirt order forms will be coming home in your child's communicator on Thursday. You may also fill in the online order from below.  Money will be due on Friday, November 22nd.  Please send money and order form, if you do not fill out the online from, in a clearly marked envelope.  Thank you so much!

 

 



Terrarium

Pumpkin Jack has inspired us in so many ways! One of our observations on Day 6 was all the water/condensation on the success of the container. This sparked an impromptu discussion about the water cycle.
I got to thinking about the water cycle and how else I could show the kids the water cycle in action...without being grossed out by a molding, rotting, decoding pumpkin. All of a sudden it hit me...we will make terrariums.

This is what I would like to make with the kids.

Please send in a clear plastic pop bottle that has been cleaned. I would like to make these  Monday the 18th.

Pumpkin Jack: Day 6

 

Today is Day 6 of our Pumpkin Jack experiment, and boy has he changed!  We each took turns observing the pumpkin through the foggy, wet container.  YUCK!  After we made our observations we recorded our findings in our Pumpkin Jack Observation book.
