Suffix Song

We learned all about adding a suffix to the end of a word! We had fun learning a new song and taking turns singing it into the microphone while standing on the table.

The Phases of the Moon

Thank you Mrs. Garcia for doing a fun experiment with our class while I was away!  This experiment helped us understand why we have different phases of the moon. 

Shell Mania

When Mrs. Wanke came back, she told us she brought something back for each of us.  We had to play 20 questions to infer what she brought back.  At the end of the game, we figured out that she brought back shells. Next, we buddied up with our partner and wrote adjectives that described our shells. 

After that, Mrs. Wanke showed us the Disney short film titled, Piper.  In that film a little bird tries to get shells that bury themselves in the sand.   Mrs. Wanke, then showed us a video she shot in Florida.  She saw those shells in REAL life on the beach!   We thought it was so cool!   

Lastly, Mrs. Wanke showed us a shell that had been broken.  She took a picture of it and we had to draw what we though the rest of the shell looked like.  Then, we wrote what adventures the shell had been on to become broken and washed up on the beach.  It was a fun filled shell morning!

Spelling Rollercoaster

Today to practice our spelling words we played Spelling Roller Coaster.  Students had to spell one of our spelling words correctly before being able to complete each obstacle.   Students took turns being the speller and the gate keeper.

To start, after correctly spelling a word students crawled through the tunnel. 

Next, after another correct word they took the scooter through the cones.

The third obstacle, after another correct word was the hula hoop.

Next up, hop on the dots!

Lastly, student pushed a button.  The gate keeper would give a sight word depending on the color button that was pushed. 

If the word was spelled correct, they were able to get a skittle that matched the color button.

Rockstars!

We sure had a lot of fun today dressed like Rockstars!  Mrs. Wanke was told she looked like a 90's Rockstar.  (I take that as a compliment.)  Sorry some of our photos are blurry.  

Penguin Reports

I was so very impressed with all the penguin reports!  Everyone did such a great job sharing about their penguin with the class.
