Writing Fairy STRIKES Again!

We have been working really hard at using capital letters when writing proper nouns.  However, with all of our concentration on proper nouns, we sometimes forget to capitalize the first word of our sentences.  So, today the Writing Fairy  came and gave us one Skittle every time we capitalized the first word of our sentences and two Skittles for every proper noun we capitalized.

DATES!

Yep...I said dates!

The other day, while reading an Amelia Bedelia book, Amelia's boss told her to make a date cake.  Amelia Bedelia, cut up dates from a calendar and put them in the cake to bake.  The kids could NOT understand this concept.  So today we tried dates!

We sure were excited to try them!

Some of us liked them!

Some of us...NOT so much!

However, now we all know the difference between.....

  

dates           and            dates!

Guided Math Technology Station 4/13/15

This week we will be working on story problems.

Monday and Tuesday Groups 1,2,3,and 4

Wednesday and Thursday Groups 1and 2
                                           Group 3
                                           Group 4

Friday, you can have your choice!  Pick either the game you played on Monday and Tuesday or Wednesday and Thursday.

Ice Man came to our school!

Ice Man came to our school to talk to us about how we can be a H.E.R.O. too!  Ice Man's message was all about not being a bully!

Ice Man had Elaina squeeze all the tooth paste out of a tube of toothpaste.  Then, he told her to put it all back in!  Elaina soon realized this was impossible.  Ice Man said, this is like our words. Once we say them, we can't take them back!

Ice Man lifted up Anna and another student and spun them around.  

Ice Man did lots of other SUPER hero tricks for us....

1. He ripped a phone book in half with his bare hands!

2. He bent an iron bar in his mouth!

3. He broke a baseball bat on his leg!

Guided Math Technology Station 4/7/15

This week we will be working on number bonds.  Some of us will be brushing up on how to make bonds of 10.  Others, will be using our understanding of making bonds of 10 by trying to form bonds of 30!
