Statements get periods.
Commands get periods or exclamation points.
Questions get question marks.
Exclamations get exclamation points.

We played a fun game in class.

Then we went down to the computer lab and played another fun game that helped us learn the different sentence types.

Catch up Post

On November 24th we went to the ICF property to do some fun fall activities.  Here you see us eating a snack. This is not just any old snack, this snack taught us how the Indians planted corn.  We had pudding for the dirt, then Swedish fish as the fish to help fertilize the soil, candy corn for the corn seeds, and then crushed Oreos for the dirt.
YUMMY!

We played a fun game called Rod Squeeze.  This game had us work on finding missing numbers in addition and subtraction problems.

Check out these two cuties!  They were nominated by their class mates for having good behavior for October and November!  Way to go!

Wonderful Whale T-shirts

Coming home in communicators tomorrow will be an order form for our one of a kind Wonderful Whale T-shirts.  Every student had a hand in creating this shirt.  Each student wrote his/her name to look as if it was coming out of the whale spout.

We will be wearing these every Friday and on our field trips.  The cost per shirt will be $12.  Ideally, we would want everyone to have a t-shirt. If this is a problem, please let me know.

Glued Sounds

We have learned three glued sounds.

These glued sounds can help us when we spell and when we are reading.  We have also learned about Chunky the Monkey.  Chunky the Monkey looks for glued sounds when trying to read a word.  This helps really hear all the parts of the word.  This strategy is also much more efficient that tapping out every single letter.

Here is how you can encourage your child to use Chunky the Monkey when reading at home.

Happy Veteran's Day

We read a beautiful story called the Poppy Lady.  This story gave the history of why poppies are given out on Veteran's Day.  Ask you child to share with you what they know.  You and your child can watch this story yourself at home.

Pumpkin Jack Day 1 (2015)

Pumpkin Jack Experiment
Day 1

We placed a Jack-O-Lanterns into the box to decompose.

We can't wait to observe the changes that will take place over the next few weeks and months.
This box is gonna get messy!
Do you want to do this at home along with us?

Place your pumpkin in the corner of your yard.  When we check our pumpkin at school. Check your pumpkin at home. You will know when we check our pumpkin because I will update our blog with our observations.
