Hoo Haven and a Hike

This week we have been reading the story White Owl, Barn Owl.  So having Hoo Haven come and share with us about owls was perfect!    We got to see a Great Horned Owl and a Barn Owl. We learned so much about these animals and discovered some misconceptions as well.  Did you know that owls CAN'T turn their heads all the way around!?
The Barn Owl, Casper.

The Great Horned Owl

Hoo Haven has so many more animal other than owls, including a snake.  Today, we got to meet and TOUCH a corn snake Great Balls of Fire.  Some of us were super excited about touching the snake and some of did not want any part of touching him.  We did learn that snakes are NOT slimy.

After Hoo Haven's presentation Mr. Faller and Mr. Hoffman took us for a hike.  We saw so many cool things when we were hiking around. Ask your child to share with you about what they saw!

We saw a dead snake and Mr. Faller told us how to tell if the snake is poisonous or not by looking at it's head.

Mr. Faller also explained how the honey bees keep the queen bee warm during the winter.
