Fun Day to be a First Grader

Wack-a-Word

Today we played Wack-a-Word for the first time.  It is such a fun way to practice our spelling words. We watch the Smartboard for a word to popup.

Once the word disappears, we have to wack all the moles/letters to spell the word before the mallet on the board goes down.

Check out the video of us playing Wack-a-Word!

Brain Break

One of our new favorite Brain Breaks to do is called Milkshake.  Check out the video of us giving our brains a rest.

Yummy Yummy in our Tummy

Today Lily's mom and brother brought us some yummy treats!  We got cupcakes with chocolate frosting and gold star sprinkles since our class got the Golden Apple!  Thanks!

Mrs. Wanke even got a special surprise!   Thanks you so much!  I love it!

Laura Ladybug

Today Laura Ladybug came to teach us math. She helped up work through story problems with her movable spots!  We think she looks a lot like Mrs. Wanke.

Laura Ladybug worked with us in small groups.  We each got our own ladybug work mats with movable spots, just like Laura Ladybug's.  We hope that Laura Ladybug comes back again to help us with more of our math.

Lucky the Leprechaun

We came back from Library and the leprechaun destroyed our classroom.
All of our traps were flipped and turned, chairs were knocked over, tissues were thrown around the room, and our mailbox was tipped over.   How can a little guy do so much damage?

The Leprechaun left us some chocolate and leprechaun juice.  His note told us if the juice was sweet then it meant we had been good, but if it was sour it meant that we had been bad.  Ask your child to share with you what their juice tasted like.
